Organic Apoteke: COSMOS - International Organic Certification

Over the last decade there were numerous organisations that certified organic products, by they food or skincare. Each organisation had its own standards, hence what was allowed and not in the organic cosmetics sector was unclear. However an international consensus had now been agreed. COSMOS is the new international standard for organic certification. The COSMOS-standard is owned and managed by a not-for-profit, international association registered in Belgium. 

Their ultimate objective is to safeguard, in the area of cosmetics, the welfare of the environment and of people.  They hope to stimulate the development of cosmetics that are ever more natural and organic.  And  want to ensure that consumers have clear and transparent information so that they can themselves promote sustainable development.

Therefore, the COSMOS-standard sets out innovative, challenging and progressive criteria for organic and natural cosmetics that consumers can trust, and that are clear for the industry and good for the environment.
